If you have problems calculating what you are paying for – or taking total prices up to hammer price – the Hammer & Premium App is for you.

Hammer & Premium describe the app as the: “art auction adding machine for the modern magpie.”

The app has a very clean look and is simple to use. Once installed you can load the app quickly then select the function before entering the required data for the app to calculate the relevant numbers – either the premium price or the hammer price.

The interface for both functions is very similar. The app offers a long drop down list of auction houses to select from, the user then enters either the hammer price or the premium price and set the vendor’s commission rate, the App will then calculate the hammer price, net to seller, buyer’s premium and vendor’s commission.

The app was first released in December 2014 and has since had several updates which have added more functionality to the app, including adding further auction houses. There is also an online version of the app offering the same functions but which can be viewed in a browser.

Currently Hammer & Premium is only available in on Ipad or Iphone in English and German, and can be downloaded for free from the App store.
