Flower Girl, a 2008 mural by UK street artist Banksy, fetched $204,000 at a Beverly Hills auction on Thursday, well within its $150,000-300,000 estimate.
It was one of several rare pieces of Banksy art auctioned at the Julien’s Auctions Beverly Hills gallery. Another Banksy lot, TV Girl (2003/04), a three-color stencil and freehand work depicting a young girl embracing a television set, sold at 10 percent above its $120,000 high estimate, for $132,000.
Another Banksy piece, Umbrella Rat (2003/04), which was estimated at $40,000-$60,000, sold for $50,000. Black Bobby (2003), estimated at $20,000-$40,000,sold for $37.500.
Happy Choppers (2002), an aerosol stencil depicting a squadron of armed military helicopters with the lead “chopper” dressed in a pink bow, was estimated to fetch $150,000-$200,000 but did not sell.
