An array of fine European and American art, antiques, and jewellery, including many items from the estate of artist Alexander Brooks, will feature in Kaminski Auctions’ annual Thanksgiving Auction on November 30.

The second day of the auction, on December 1, will feature the personal collection of Marla Maples and Tiffany Trump, in addition to a selection of jewellery and fine wines.

Typically, Kaminski’s largest sale of year, this year’s auction will include highly anticipated items such as Alexander Brook’s famous “Brothel Bed.”

Residing and working in New York and Savannah, Brook was one of the most popular figurative painters of the 1930s. His work has been exhibited in many major museums, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City, and the Cleveland Art Museum.

The bed features nine oil painted panels by the artist, all depicting nude and partially undressed women. The turned wood spindles of the head and footboard frame the panels and give the bed a light bamboo like structure. Valued at $60,000 to $70,000, the bed comes from the artist’s own private collection. Although it has never before been exhibited in public, it once appeared in a Victoria’s Secret photo shoot, and was photographed by Guild Museum Artist Hans Namuth.

The auction will also offer a pair of Egyptian Revival bronzes produced by Tiffany and Company, and signed “Picault.” Each about 20 inches high, they model the forms of a traditional male figure and the famous Apis bull. As a pair, these rare sculptures are valued at between $20,000 and $40,000.

In addition to these impressive sculptural pieces, the auction will also offer a number of notable paintings and two dimensional works. The most highly valued of these is John George Brown’s painting, “Girl on Seesaw,” which is expected to sell for between $20,000 and $40,000.

Other important works in the sale include a painting by American artist Ralph Albert Blakelock, an Audubon print, as well as works from Dutch artist Koekkoek, Max Friedrich Rabes, Wilhelm Von Gegerfelt, and Louis Jaurer. There is winter scene landscape by the revered North Shore artist Frederick J Mulhaupt that has everything one looks for in an American Impressionist painting.

Kaminski Auctions, located on the North Shore of Boston, is offering online bidding for this auction through its new online bidding platform KaminskiLIVE.
