GS Yuasa launches three lead-acid battery ranges

GS Yuasa, the Japanese lead-acid battery manufacturer, unveiled three new car battery ranges at the Automechanika conference in Birmingham on June 6.

The first are GS SMF (sealed maintenance free) batteries that are designed for standard ignition cars and light vans. The company says the batteries, which have calcium plates, are capable of up to 40,000 starts.

The second is GS’s enhanced flooded battery range which is aimed for micro-hybrid and start-stop vehicles. The company says it offers up to 270,000 starts and its plates apparently contain lithium as well as carbon additives.

The third new AGM range has been designed for higher specification micro-hybrid and start-stop vehicles. GS says they can deliver up to 360,000 starts.

The new batteries will be available from September.
