Art Basel has postponed its June fair, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its unprecedented impact worldwide.

The 2020 edition of Art Basel will now take place at Messe Basel from September 17th to September 20th, 2020, with Preview Days on September 15th and September 16th.

Marc Spiegler, Art Basel’s global director said: “We hope that the situation improves swiftly, and we will work closely with our exhibitors to deliver a successful fair in September. At the same time, we are aware of how dynamic this situation is and will continue to monitor the Covid-19 situation closely.

“The health and safety of our exhibitors, partners, guests, and teams continues to be our main priority, and we will adapt all our planning to the developing situation.”

Art Basel recently concluded its new digital platform, the Online Viewing Rooms (OVR), as a way for exhibitors for its Hong Kong fair to exhibit and sell their works.

It said it would continue to support galleries and strengthen the art community through OVR.
